Credit unions from across England came together this week for the opening two events of the Fair4All Finance Credit Union Transformation Fund Roadshows, with Manchester and Birmingham hosting well-attended and highly engaged sessions.
The roadshows are designed to build on earlier consultation, share emerging insights, and crucially provide credit unions with the opportunity to help shape the next phase of funding and delivery. Both events created a collaborative space for open discussion, with attendees contributing ideas, challenges and ambitions for the future of the sector.
There was a strong sense of momentum throughout the sessions, with enthusiastic participation reflecting the sector’s shared commitment to growth, modernisation and improving outcomes for members. Conversations focused not only on how the Transformation Fund can support individual organisations, but how it can strengthen the wider credit union movement for the long term.
All Together Money Chief Executive, Matt Bland joined discussions at the events and emphasised the importance of the programme in the context of the sector’s wider ambitions: “It’s been incredibly encouraging to see the level of engagement and energy from credit unions in both Manchester and Birmingham. This work is central to delivering the Credit Union Growth Plan, the sector launched earlier this year helping to build a stronger, more sustainable sector that can reach more people and deliver greater impact.
“While the current funding is focused on England, there are clear indirect benefits for Scotland and Wales through strengthened infrastructure and shared learning. That said, we are continuing to actively engage with governments and stakeholders in both nations to advocate for equivalent ambition and support.
“I’d like to thank Fair4All Finance for their ongoing commitment to the sector. Their investment and collaborative approach are playing a vital role in supporting credit unions to grow and innovate.”
With two successful events complete, attention now turns to the final roadshow in London next month. Building on the strong foundations laid in Manchester and Birmingham, the London session will offer a further opportunity for credit unions to contribute their voice and help shape the future direction of the Transformation Fund.
