The second day of All Together Money Annual Conference 2026 brought two days of conversations to a close with a strong focus on leadership, collaboration, innovation and the future of the credit union movement.
The day began with two important roundtable conversations, bringing credit union leaders together to share experiences and consider the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The Director Roundtable, sponsored by Murmuration, explored what it takes to build strong, effective boards and develop the leadership needed for the future. Discussions around succession planning, director recruitment and board development provided practical insight into how credit unions can strengthen governance and prepare for what comes next.
Alongside this, the CEO/Manager Roundtable, sponsored by BTR Future, created space for senior leaders to explore the realities of leading a credit union in an increasingly complex environment — from the challenges facing CEOs to the opportunities for sustainable growth.
Across both conversations, one message was clear: strong leadership and good governance will be fundamental to building a sustainable future for the movement.
The morning also saw the Young Professionals Network (YPN) take centre stage, with young professionals coming together to explore what it means to work on the frontline of a credit union and the importance of purpose, ethos and values.
Led by Sam Plester of Mission Brands Consulting, the session provided an opportunity to challenge thinking, share experiences and consider how the next generation can help shape the future of the movement.
It was a strong demonstration of the energy, ideas and ambition of emerging leaders within the sector — reinforcing that the future of the movement is already in the room.
As the day moved into the plenary programme, attention turned to the Credit Union Transformation Fund, with Diane Burridge, Director of Innovation and Development at Fair4All Finance, joining All Together Money Chief Executive Matt Bland to provide an update on the programme.
The conversation explored progress so far, key milestones and what the next phase of the fund could mean for participating credit unions and the wider sector, highlighting the importance of investment, innovation and long-term sustainability.
Delegates were then given an international perspective through the CUSO Focus Panel, which brought together leaders from the United States to explore the experience of Credit Union Service Organisations.
Miriam Ackerman, Steve Salzer of Velera, James McBride of Let’s Go CU Services and Ray Crouse of Skyla Financial Services shared their experiences of collaboration, shared services, innovation and scale.
The discussion offered valuable insight into what the UK credit union movement might learn from the US model, while exploring how greater collaboration could help organisations overcome some of the challenges of scale while retaining their independence and member focus.
Regulation was also firmly on the agenda, with senior representatives from the PRA and FCA joining delegates to discuss key regulatory developments affecting credit unions.
The session provided an opportunity to hear directly from the regulators about current priorities and emerging areas of focus, while delegates were also able to put their questions forward and engage in an important two-way conversation.
As the conference moved towards its final sessions, attention turned towards the future. The final plenary explored AI and the future of the movement, with Matt Howarth from Reason Digital examining the opportunities artificial intelligence could create for credit unions, alongside the practical, ethical and organisational considerations that come with it.
From governance and regulation to technology, transformation, collaboration and leadership, the conversations throughout the weekend have reflected both the challenges facing the movement and the significant opportunities ahead.
Saturday evening will provide another important moment of celebration, as delegates come together for this year’s Credit Union Foundation’s CU Futures graduation.
The graduation will recognise the achievements of the latest cohort of CU Futures participants and celebrate the investment being made in developing the next generation of leaders within the credit union movement.
All Together Money gives thanks to every speaker, sponsor, exhibitor, partner and delegate who has helped make Annual Conference 2026 possible.
