With just one week to go until the All Together Money Annual Conference 2026, credit unions from across the GB will gather in Leeds on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September.
This year’s programme brings together speakers from across government, regulation, financial services and the wider co-operative movement, with a strong focus on the issues that will shape the future of credit unions.
Hearing directly from government and the sector
Delegates will have the opportunity to hear directly from the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Lucy Rigby MP, via video message, with her contribution followed by a panel discussion featuring Rose Marley, Chief Executive of Co-operatives UK; Glenn Bemment, Group Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking at Coventry Building Society; and Matt Bland, Chief Executive of All Together Money.
The session will provide an important opportunity to hear perspectives from across government, the co-operative movement and financial services, as well as explore the role credit unions can play in the future financial services landscape.
Preparing for regulatory change
Regulation will be a major focus of this year’s conference programme, particularly as the PRA is expected to announce further details of its planned review of credit union regulation at, or around, the time of the conference.
Importantly, the review is intended to support the growth and development of the credit union sector, making it particularly relevant at a time when the movement is looking to expand its reach and strengthen its long-term sustainability.
The conference will provide a valuable opportunity for credit unions to hear more about the direction of travel directly from the regulators, but also to provide their own input and feedback on the proposed changes. Ensuring that the experiences and perspectives of credit unions are reflected in the review will be an important part of All Together Money’s advocacy work.
The coming months are expected to bring significant change for credit unions, and understanding what may lie ahead — as well as having the opportunity to influence it — will be a key focus of the programme.
Credit Union Transformation Fund update
Kate Pender, CEO of Fair4All Finance, joins Matt Bland, Chief Executive of All Together Money, to provide the latest update on the Credit Union Transformation Fund.
Delegates will hear about the programme’s progress and key milestones, as well as what the next phase could mean for participating credit unions and the wider movement.
Importantly, the session will also provide an opportunity for credit unions to feed directly into the future design and priorities of the Fund.
The session therefore provides not only an update on where the Fund is heading, but a valuable opportunity for the sector to help shape what comes next.
Exploring growth, technology and the future
Alongside these key discussions, the programme will explore a range of issues affecting the future of credit unions.
Delegates will hear the findings of Swoboda Research Centre’s work exploring credit union views on growth, scale, collaboration and the road to 2035. There will also be sessions looking at the potential of Credit Union Service Organisations, the role of finance in the Warm Homes Plan and the opportunities and challenges presented by AI, with Matt Howarth of Reason Digital returning to the conference a year after his previous session.
The programme also includes dedicated sessions on governance, lending growth and underwriting, data and technology, supporting vulnerable members, financial inclusion and mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Matt Bland, Chief Executive of All Together Money, said: “This year’s Annual Conference comes at an important time for credit unions. The sector is facing significant opportunities alongside a period of change, whether that is through regulatory reform, the Transformation Fund, new technology or the continued drive for growth and sustainability.
“We’ve worked hard to bring together a programme that reflects those priorities and, importantly, creates opportunities for credit unions to have their say. We want delegates to leave Leeds with new ideas, stronger connections and a clear sense of the opportunities ahead.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the movement together for two days of insight, discussion, collaboration and celebration.”
