A team from the Penny Post Group put their strength to the test earlier this month, taking part in the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity Bus Pull to help raise vital funds to tackle homelessness across the region.
Held at Manchester Central on 10 July, the challenge brought together teams from across Greater Manchester to pull an 11-tonne bus, raising awareness and funds to support the work of the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity and its efforts to help people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.
The Penny Post team joined organisations and members of the wider community in taking on the challenge, reflecting the credit union’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves and recognising the close relationship between financial wellbeing and housing security.
John Haslam, Chief Strategy Officer at the Penny Post Group, was among those who took part in the challenge.
He said: “It was fantastic to be part of the Bus Pull alongside colleagues and so many people from across the Greater Manchester community, all coming together behind such an important cause.
“As a credit union, we see how closely financial wellbeing and housing security can be connected. Supporting people to build greater financial resilience is at the heart of what credit unions do, but we also recognise that we are part of a much wider network of organisations working to support individuals, families and communities.
“Pulling an 11-tonne bus certainly wasn’t easy, but it was a brilliant experience and, most importantly, an opportunity to raise money and awareness for the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity and the important work it is doing to tackle homelessness across the region. We’re incredibly proud to have played our part.”
