The hard-working volunteers were treated to a well-deserved afternoon tea at Cloud 23 to honour their dedication to help the credit union reach its 21st birthday. 35 pioneers attended the event, reminiscing and sharing their stories.

This month, South Manchester Credit Union celebrated the pioneer members who helped shape the credit union. The hard-working volunteers were treated to a well-deserved afternoon tea at Cloud 23 to honour their dedication to help the credit union reach its 21st birthday. 35 pioneers attended the event, reminiscing and sharing their stories.
SMCU CEO, Sheenagh Young said: “It’s great to acknowledge and show thanks to those who were pivotal to the foundation of our success. The commitment of staff, volunteers and directors continues to be a source of inspiration for myself and others, as we work every day to make this credit union the best it can be.
South Manchester Credit Union started as a purely volunteer-run organisation. Thanks to their involvement, the credit union now support 4,500 people in our community. Reporting in its annual report, SMCU have now supported its community with over £24,800,000 in loans since 2000 and currently over £3m in savings across its membership.
Sheenagh added: “The focus of our staff team is to give the best service, best products and best technology that we can resource. This is what our members deserve.”
