Scottish Credit Unions Come Together for All Together Money Forum Conference

Credit unions from across Scotland came together in Glasgow for the All Together Money Scottish Forum Conference, with Tom Arthur MSP, Business and Fair Work Minister, joining a packed programme of discussion, insight and collaboration.

The conference, held at The Studio in Glasgow, brought together credit unions from across the country — including both All Together Money members and non-members — alongside industry experts, partners and stakeholders.

The day opened with a welcome from Matt Bland, Chief Executive of All Together Money, and Scottish Forum Chair Ken Corsar, followed by an update from Marcela Hashim of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).

Throughout the day, attendees took part in sessions covering some of the key opportunities and challenges facing the sector. Topics included the use of AI and marketing, tackling illegal money lending, gambling awareness, growing membership safely, transformation and the future of credit unions, Scotland’s new Credit Union Service Organisation (CUSO) and cyber resilience.

Speakers and organisations contributing to the programme included Mike Pye from MP&Co, John Pollock from the Scottish Illegal Money Lending Unit (SIMLU), Vouchsafe, Paul Rooney from Constituent Associates, Frances McCann and CU Share, and Alison Brogan from the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

A key moment of the conference came as Tom Arthur MSP, Scottish Government Minister for Business and Fair Work, addressed delegates.

His session highlighted the important role that credit unions play in communities across Scotland and the value of a strong, sustainable and collaborative credit union sector in supporting people and communities.

The Minister’s contribution also provided an opportunity for the sector to hear directly from the Scottish Government and reinforced the importance of continued engagement and collaboration between government and credit unions.
