Bradford District Credit Union Celebrates 10 years of Apprenticeship

Bradford District Credit Union (BDCU) is celebrating a decade of partnership with Bradford College as it is named a Regional Finalist for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Employer of the Year at the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2026.

The recognition comes during a landmark year for BDCU and Bradford College, which are celebrating 10 years of working together to create apprenticeship opportunities and develop local talent.

Since welcoming its first Bradford College apprentice in 2016, apprenticeships have become an important part of BDCU’s workforce strategy, with current and former apprentices now making up around 40% of its workforce.

Over the past decade, the partnership has supported individuals to build skills, confidence and long-term careers, while contributing to the continued growth of the community-focused financial organisation.

The milestone follows further recent success at the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2026, where BDCU was named SME Employer of the Year and Bradford College apprentice Ariba Matloob received the Advanced Apprentice of the Year award.

Now, BDCU’s commitment to creating opportunities and supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce has been recognised once again, with the organisation progressing to the regional finals of the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2026.

The nomination provides another opportunity to celebrate the impact of the long-standing partnership between BDCU and Bradford College, and the role apprenticeships have played in developing talent and creating meaningful career pathways across the organisation.

As BDCU marks 10 years of apprenticeship success, the Regional Finalist recognition reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to investing in people, supporting local communities and ensuring opportunities are accessible to all.
