Next week, credit union professionals from around the world will gather in Stockholm, Sweden, for the 2025 World Credit Union Conference (WCUC) – a landmark occasion marking the 20th anniversary of the premier global event for the credit union movement.
Hosted by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), the conference runs from 14–16 July and is set to welcome over 1,800 delegates from 60 countries. This year’s theme, “The Future is Cooperative”, highlights the forward-thinking innovations, partnerships, and issues shaping the future of financial cooperatives worldwide.
The event promises a packed programme of keynote addresses, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration, spark new ideas, and celebrate the global impact of the credit union model.
ABCUL is proud to be among the many national associations taking part, with a strong British delegation travelling to Sweden for the conference.
WOCCU Interim President and CEO Paul Treinen commented: “It is great to see that such a large, vibrant contingent of British credit union professionals will be joining us in Stockholm.
“With new ABCUL CEO Matt Bland charting an ambitious future for their sector, I can’t wait to see how much energy and enthusiasm they bring to the event. I hope they have a wonderful time engaging with colleagues from around the world and take home many lessons they can apply in their own credit unions.”
