Wiltshire & Swindon Credit Union is delighted to have been awarded ‘Community Group of the Year’ at this year’s Wiltshire Life Awards.

The awards seek to raise the profile and awareness of not just profitable businesses, but also the charities and community groups who go the extra mile to support the county.

Awarding this year’s Community Group of the Year, the judges noted the way the Wiltshire & Swindon Credit Union is embedded in the community is a key factor to their decision.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Life said: “The credit union’s overall purpose is to improve the financial wellbeing of the people of Wiltshire. It is embedded in the community, offering convenient savings schemes, fair value loans and financial skills support.”

Nick Gallop, the Chair of Wiltshire & Swindon CU paid tribute to the office team: “This is great recognition for our office team and also the volunteers who work around the county to raise our profile. More than that, this is recognition of a journey that’s still in its early stages. We just become Acorn Community Bank and we plan to develop more community partnerships.

“These partnerships with local authorities, housing associations and employers will naturally align our development with community priorities. The better we do this, the more we will anticipate the financial challenges people face.”
